The Y Conference: The Little Creative Design Conference that Could.

Michael Dooley has a really great — and refreshingly refrained — website. The intermittently flashing fluorescent bulb reminds me of the caprice of creativity; there for the split second then gone. And back again.

Michael is the creative director of Michael Dooley Design and teaches Design History at Art Center College of Design, UCLA Extension, and Loyola Marymount University. He is also a Print contributing editor and writes on art and design for a variety of publications. So, I was happy when he contacted a number of AIGA San Diego members with a proposal to write about (the now) 16 year old Y Conference held every year in San Diego.

His four part series about the formation and continued success of this “little creative design conference that could” is testament to the efforts of many over the last 16 years. Enjoy the articles and, thank you, Michael.
